I’ve been thinking about half time and the idea that the week after Thanksgiving presents an opportunity to take a deep breath and assess your game plan for the remainder of the holiday season. You’re at a midway point of sorts and you can be your own coach in determining your “winning” formula for sanity and sustainable smiling. In service to your own energy and joy during the month, you can blow your own internal whistle at any time to change the direction or speed of holiday celebrating or even call a personal “timeout.”
If the idea of a holiday season “half time” intrigues you, here are some questions for your reflection:
- What does a “winning” holiday season look like and feel like to you? Are you open to a “half time” to assess your emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical strategy?
- How will you know at month’s end if you’ve been successful?
- What will you need to do throughout the month to cement this positive outcome?
- Acknowledging that you do not have to do this alone, who is on your holiday team? Who is your your assistant? Who is your referee when/if things begin to go awry?
