At My Life’s Work, our foremost goal is to support you in both your design of a career path and, ultimately, your identification of a “job” (or jobs for some) that is purposeful and capitalizes on your areas of competence and confidence.
A career transition means different things to different people:
- Permanently or temporarily leaving or re-entering the workforce
- Exploring and taking steps toward a new professional identity
- Re-arranging your career landscape to support your unique interests (e.g. multiple career options) or needs (e.g. balance)
- Changing career paths within your organization
- Effectively managing a job search
Our goal is to support your transition for any reason and at any point.
We understand that each client’s circumstances are unique and, as such, no engagement is the same. Client/coach sessions and between-session work can involve:
- Assessing your current work environment for fit, influence, and opportunities for development
- Exploring your career values, vision, and strengths
- Identifying alternative career paths
- Completing tactical activities that support a change in your career (e.g. network expansion, resume development, interview practice, elevator speech expression)
- Addressing self-sabotage or ways in which you stand in your own way of sustained career success and satisfaction
This final point is a most important one. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies when it comes to creating the optimal conditions for a career change.
The length of a coaching engagement depends on your goals and your needs for coaching before, during, and after your transition. We work to design a coaching plan that suits you!

| “I sought Mimi’s assistance with transition issues related to my career and future retirement. What impressed me the most was Mimi’s preparation and followup. She conducted an extensive preinterview; provided extremely insightful, thought-provoking, and novel approaches to my situation; helped me view my options from a new perspective;and provided followup emails and phone calls wtih additional stories, thoughts, and ideas after each session. She is also extremely personable, engaging, and energetic. I highly recommend Mimi and have referred her to many of my friends and colleagues.”
